物語としての建築

　若山滋は、建築家であり、文筆家であり、研究家でもある。若山の思考領域は、建築・都市・文化・風土・文学・歴史など多岐にわたるが、よく読み込めばその全体が織りなす精妙な論理宇宙が、そして人間とは何かという問いかけが、姿を現す。曰く、―建築は、様式に従ってでもなく、機能に従ってでもなく、物語とともにつくられるのだ、という考えが蓄積された。そこに隠された物語によってこそ「建物」は「建築」となるのだ。モダニズムもまた、ひとつの物語であったのではないかー

　若山は、名古屋工業大学において長いあいだ学生たちの教育と指導にたずさわってきた。本展では、若山の手がけた建築作品からその思考の全体像を紹介するとともに、現在建築界で活躍する弟子たちの作品を展示する。若山が設計した美術館全体に、模型、図面、文章、映像などを視覚的に展開することで、一人の人間の思考が時代を超えて受け継がれていく「物語」を表現する。

And where are we going to ride in that city, entrusted with the fate of this city? By re-presenting the expression created around the Nakagawa Canal in a new form, it may be possible to project this "Arc of The City ".
